Dr Jigar Shrimali is MD DM Nephro (Gold Medallist) working as consultant nephrologist and transplant physician at Renus Kidney Hospital, Ahmedabad and Nadiad. He is specially trained for kidney diseases, dialysis and kidney transplantation at I.K.D.R.C. Ahmedabad with first rank and for that he has received Gold Medal.
He has experience of more than 1200 kidney transplantations at I.K.D.R.C. Ahmedabad. He has done more than 200 at Renus Hospital in Ahmedabad in last six years. He is also running cadavoric transplant program and kidney paired donation program at Shalby Hospital Ahmedabad. Here he has done first cadavoric dual kidney transplantation that was first time in any private hospitals of Gujarat.
He is also expert in various procedures related to kidney problems like percutaneous CAPD catheter insertion, Permcath insertion, Percutaneous kidney biopsy (native/graft). He is expert in doing very complicated transplants.
He is conducting dialysis training program periodically. Till date more than 40 workshops are done. He has also participated in various conferences outside India.
As a transplant physician he is actively involved in various public awareness program including awareness program for kidney diseases and cadavoric transplant program.
His inclination towards academia steered him into writing an ultimate and most sought after book: “Textbook of Dialysis Therapy”.
The book was widely appreciated by eminent Nephrologists, Dialysis Technicians and has also been included as a part of the curriculum at several reputed institutes of India. It is also available on online platforms and is available worldwide.
Dr. Shrimali's experience in the Nephrology field made him realise the importance of the knowledge regarding Dialysis Therapy. He founded GLOM INDIA, which is a platform that works on making nephrology more accessible to Nephrologists, Dialysis Technicians, Physicians & the general population.
Soon he founded Renus Kidney Hospital in Ahmedabad – A state-of-the-art Dialysis Centre and a comprehensive kidney transplant care centre. Renus Kidney Hospital has its centres all over Gujarat where it offers extensive dialysis therapy.
Renus Hospital has also branched out to Nadiad city, offering all round kidney care and dialysis therapy.
Dr. Jigar Shrimali has been elected as an Executive Council Member of the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation (ISOT) - Year 2021.
QUALIFICATION AND TRAINING:
Dr.Jigar Shrimali did his M.B.B.S. from BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) from September 2001 to March 2007.
He then went on to do M.D. (General Medicine) from N.H.L. Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) from May 2007 to April 2010.
He did his DM (Nephrology) - Gold Medallist – from IKDRC – ITS, BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) from June 2011 to July 2014
WORK EXPERIENCE:
One year Compulsory Rotatory Internship from March 2006 to March 2007 (Including 3 Months Rural/Health Training).
Three year Postgraduate Training In Medicine Department from May 2007 to April 2010 at N.H.L. Municipal Medical college, Ahmedabad (Gujarat).
Worked as senior resident in Nephrology post graduation, Kidney Hospital, IKDRC-ITS, BJMC, Ahmedabad.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE :
As a postgraduate, Dr. Jigar Shrimali is trained in critical care units, ventilator management. He is also trained in minor procedures like endotracheal intubation, pericardiocentesis, pleurocentesis, lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy and liver biopsy.
Dr. Shrimali is skillful in doing emergency USG(FAST), Renal USG and Renal Doppler.
